No, we are just way too far away. They can barely ray trace a simple game like minecraft with 1/16th the render distance of default and 1/35th the frame rate.On 2nd thought my 1080ti is holding up just fine for what I do. Kind of got caught up in the new card buzz. Frustrating, but it actually saved me $700 by forcing me to wait.
I’m sure they’ll have this all figured out for the 4000 series. Right....?
Unless a major breakthrough is made in a single generation that gives something like 4 times the current performance, Ampere's 30% RT improvement over Turing just isn't nearly enough.
I personally don't see a point in even enabling ray tracing until the get the performance hit down to under 20%.
