i just insalled a Nvidia Geforce FX 5500 card in my Dell Dimension 2400 (pci slots only) and when I boot up there is no signal going to the monitor (it's blank) I did disable the onboard graphics controller. In the bios it was set at auto for the primeary video controller. Is this just a bad card?
I'm not a gamer, I watch a few videos on my new 19" widescreen. Just wanted a card that would allow me to set the monitor at it's native 1440X900 setting... Any other cards that may be better??? Thanks for your time and efforts...

When you boot up, is everything else turning on?? If so, I'd shut the computer down, disconnect the power cord from the psu, and try taking the card out and reseating it in the pci slot. If the card doesn't click into the slot correctly, it won't send a signal to the monitor even though everything else is turned on and working properly. It is an older card, but it should still work.
