Rumor mill: Can Nvidia redeem itself and the Blackwell consumer line with the RTX 5060? Probably not, but it might not be too long before we find out. According to new reports, the RTX 5060 series, consisting of three cards, will be announced next week, though they might not be available to buy (assuming they're actually in stock) until a month later.

According to VideoCardz, Nvidia has just informed its board partners that the RTX 5060 series will be announced on March 13, which is next Thursday.

The same report claims that there will be three variants of the RTX 5060: the standard version, the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, and the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. The latter two cards appeared in a Eurasian Economic Union database in January, strengthening the report's credibility.

While Nvidia has not revealed when it plans on releasing these cards, Zed Wang, better known as his X handle/pseudonym MEGAsizeGPU, wrote in a post that they wouldn't be on the shelves until a month later. This lines up with previous rumors pointing to an April launch, though it's unclear if Nvidia will release all three cards simultaneously or stagger their launch.

Whenever the RTX 5060 series get here, it'll be surprising if we don't see a repeat of what happened – and is still happening – with the other Blackwell cards: low or zero stock levels and retailers having almost no availability.

As for the cards themselves, the RTX 5060 Ti is believed to have a 180W TDP, though we don't know if this is for the 8GB or 16GB models, or both. For comparison, the 8GB RTX 4060 Ti has a 160W TGP while the 16GB version of that card has a 165W TGP.

It's possible that AMD will release the Radeon RX 9060 is April, too. Team Red is also rumored to launch 8GB and 16GB versions of the RX 9060 XT, mirroring what Nvidia is doing with the RTX 5060 Ti.

Ultimately, though, a lot of people will likely be apathetic about the RTX 5060 and its variants. Blackwell has drawn a slew of criticism for its underwhelming generational uplifts, pricing, dishonest marketing, and technical issues such as missing ROPs. The latest entry in the series, the RTX 5070, scored a lowly 60 in our review, where we called it overpromised, underdelivered, and ultimately pointless.

Nvidia's xx60 series has long been a favorite among mainstream gamers: the RTX 3060 recently lost its long-held position at the top of the Steam survey to the RTX 4060, and the RTX 4060 Ti is in third place. Even the RTX 2060 remains in the top ten. We'll have to wait and see if the RTX 5060 (eventually) proves to be as popular.

If Nvidia advanced in GPU tech like they advance in pricing exploitation they might have more to bring to market. As it currently stands, the most they can do is weakly justify the existence of new hardware, mainly through locked software features like DLSS versioning and Ray Tracing.

Quick, release the mobile variants of the 5070ti and charge double from them!

This is where it really matters for AMD to get market share. Given the great performance of the 9070 XT, it's likely they'll be far ahead in performance for the 9060.

This here; AMD has a golden chance to grab a bunch of market share in the $300ish range. The chip the 9060 is looking to be basically half a 9070 chip (64 CU & 256 bit bs vs 32 CU & 128 bit bus); if AMD gets the same per-CU gains the 9070XT has over the 7000 series cards the 9060 will be sitting pretty nicely performance wise. I just hope AMD is smart and shows up with a highly clocked 16 GB version for under $350 ($300 would be better), and saves any 8 GB models for cards that are closer to $200 than $300.

- Yep, 9060XT should land at about 7700XT performance levels, with much better RT, which is solid for 1440P and 1080P.

I figure we get a 16GB XT for $330 and an 8GB power limited non-XT for $250.

Whether or not they can keep the channel fed is another story entirely.

I guess Nvidia did not learn their lesson or read the writing on the stall walls the last time they crapped out two Ti variants of differing VRAM amounts (last time I checked the 4060 Ti 8GB was universally panned). Now they are about to double down on festering pile that has been the 5000 series cards by doing the same thing again on an already weak lineup.

Bravo, simply marvelous. /s

*clutches tighter on my 1080 and 1080 Ti and remembering the good times*

Will be interesting to see how stock is on the 5060's since they are all based on a single chip GB206 whereas the 4060 family was split between two separate chips. With the 5060 being a cut down chip seems like supply will not be able to keep up with demand very well.

The announcement ended with "hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha"
What launch? what is this mythical beast they are talking about?

Correction they already released the 5060 Ti aka 5070 they are rumored to release the 5050 & 5050 Ti but they will be vapor wear like the rest of the 50 series cards....lol

Can you imagine how bad the 5060 must be to be even worse than the 5070...
Faster than a 4090 I expect though with it's new DLSS 5 32 fake frame technology with only 2 second latency.
Exactly. This gen, from the 5080 down, they're offering performance 1 tier below their naming, at 1 tier above pricing, PLUS scarcity and another layer of overpricing over MSRP because of that. So imagine a 5060ti being a 5050ti at ##70ti prices. Awful situation.

And AMD is doing exactly the same, yet somehow they get praised for it. RX 9070 (RTX 5060), outrageous $550 MSRP for this 60 class piece of turd, but the cheapest I can buy is $870, some shops even going up to $1000 (Europe).

Although I don't really blame these companies, just the braindead consumers and reviewers who think that the 9070 series is in any shape or form a great value. Well, enjoy the rising prices in upcoming years, I'm done, time to find more worthwhile hobby while I enjoy my huge library of games. :)

At least - I'd say that's generous.
The 5070 ti should be a 5060
The 5070 a 5050 (very apt)
The 5060... should be a generic VGA card in a brown cardboard box on Temu
