Nvidia says RTX 2080 outperforms GTX 1080 Ti, new benchmarks leak (Updated)

Strategic leaks by Nvidia to push more sales. Leaks not only give you the ability to build excitement but also to cherry pick exactly what is leaked. I'd hold your horses before dropping money on these cards. If you put yourself in Nvidia's shoes, you too would have "leaks" of unofficial numbers of benchmarks make your cards look good.

Story updated with the following...

For the unconvinced... and if you can't wait until next week for our full review. A new set of benchmarks have been outed by Videocardz, copied from Nvidia's own GTX 2080 Reviewer's Guide.

Also you can watch Steve unbox the GeForce RTX 2080 we're in the process of reviewing, tear it down and talk technical specs.

4K benchmarks when 4K monitors are overpriced trash.

You will have a sub-par experience playing at 4K at those framerates (60fps is still low for me).

Pass.

I want to see 2080 Ti's from MSI, ASUS, EVGA, ZOTAC etc and see how much faster they will be compared to the founder's edition. Then look at how much cheaper they will be.

I want to see double the performance than the 1080 without DLSSR technology.

But why would I buy a $1,600 CAD new card when I can just buy a second 1080 used for $500 and get almost double the performance?

Well, if those leaks are true, then the RTX 2080 is a massive disappointment. And the RTX 2080 TI is simply too expensive. For now, I'll wait what AMD brings to the table to change my GTX 970.

WOW, you can't be serious!

Only about 10% faster (on average) than a 1080Ti....a near two year old card.

I'd say 'massive disappointment' is putting it very politely, personally, I think for a supposedly new architecture, their non ray tracing performance makes the 2080 an overpriced POS for $800.

In fact the ONLY thing I like about them is the new design of the FE cards, aesthetically speaking I find them...pleasing.

The 1080Ti is extremely fast, so 10-15% faster then that is impressive, its just the price of the 2080 that is silly.
But forget the regular 2080 and forget pricing entirely, the 2080Ti is very impressive, thats the first GPU made in my lifetime that will handle anything 4k or 2K @ 120/144/165HZ without issues.
I am very impressed by the 2080Ti, thats amazing, no excuses lightning bolt performance.

One of those "grain of salt" announcements. We all know what nVidia is going to say - everything new will always be mind-blowing better.

I want to see benchmarks from 3rd party testers like TechSpot and Tom's Hardware before I pass judgment.
Techspot yes but no no and no for Tom's Hardware, did you forget the scandal article from it "just buy it" about RTX cards...?

...
Be like a 8800GT all over again.

In 3 months time, Nvidia may find themselves in a place they have not been in, in over a decade...

I would love to find myself in a place I've not been in, in over a decade...
Like with a relatively new graphics card.
Sadly, I'm still using my 8800GT on my main system since 2007.

Santa, Santa... I've been good... mostly...

To be fair (IMHO):
Rule #1: Never play multiplayer games on highest settings, otherwise you have disadvantage (especially in BF1).
Rule #2: 4K is overrated, not like 1440p in 21:9.
Rule #3: There is no such thing as overpowered graphics card, just underpixeled displays.

Also, I agree on the comment, take these "leaks" as a new form of marketing.
Yea, the thing is I will swap my 1080 Ti to the RTX 2080 Ti when someone trustworthy will test it with DLSS turned off and it gives 25-30% perf over 1440p in 21:9 otherwise I will wait for the next gen.

I assume you are joking.
Bcz even cellphones have more speed and capabilities than an 11 year old PC.

Heh, I never knew how much I was slummin' it with a 1060 at 1440p 21:9. Really hoping the 2070 can beat the 1080 and board partners can keep it under $500, otherwise I'll just find a reasonably priced 1080.
