I have tried everything on this thing for 24 hrs. AVG,ADAWARE,CWSHREDDER,
SPYBOT, and others.

This darned thing just hangs on!!

It has inserted itself into IE trusted sites, and everytime I reboot,
it pops up a little window asking if I have spyware infection.

Along with IE open on a search page.

Any tips on digging the thing out.

Cheers.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You should never trust anyone that`s what RBS would tell you and I tend to agree with him.

Go HERE and follow the instructions carefully.

Print them out if you can.

Then go HERE and follow the instructions on how to post your Hijackthis log.

Thanks for the help, I still have "aboutblank" leading to " Search engine- Just find it!" and have in add/remove programs "Best Search Engine!" and Cool
Search Home.

I can remove Best Search, but it's back on reboot. Cool Search I cannot
do anything with.

Hopefully the txt file reveals something.

Again, thanks in advance for any help.

Small file, BIG problems.
Boot in Safe Mode
Switch System Restore off.
Run HJT on its own and let it 'fix':
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = C:\WINDOWS\blank.htm
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B75F75B8-93F3-429D-FF34-660B206D897A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\boln.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Systems Restart] Rundll32.exe boln.dll, DllRegisterServer

When done, delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\boln.dll

Reboot normal. If all OK, put System Restore back on.

Hi and again many thanks for helping.

This machine belongs to a friend and it's the usual.
Iexplorer , no firewall, poor antivirus practices etc.

I run Firefox, AVG pro,Adaware, Zone alarm etc and have
few problems, but I have been trying every piece of
software to remove/protect against this stuff on this
machine.

At the moment I am looking at TDS-3 Pro . Any
opinions on it.

Cheers.
