Oculus founder says no Mac is powerful enough to run the Rift

So not even a 2012 Mac Pro with 2x6 core Xeon CPUs and 32GB of DDR3 1333 and a GTX Titan X running Windows 10 cannot be used? I'm calling bullshit.
How many Mac owners, who are also hardcore gamers, are going to have that expensive machine? Not enough. And a hardcore gamer probably wouldn't buy that machine in any case

Actually I only have $3500 in this machine. I bought the Mac Pro off eBay and put in the GTX Titan X and added in 2 1TB SSD and 2 4TB HDD. lol

How many people have those?

You want Oculus to spend several hundred K or millions to sell a handful of $1000 products on Mac?

MacOS X is a true UNIX derivative and its command line tool ecosystem (Homebrew etc) makes it a kickass platform for programmers and sysadmins managing Linux/UNIX servers. Windows is crap in that regard, unless you like being stuck inside a monolithic IDE coding Java/C# and use primitive terminal emulators.
Not sure what this has to do with why rift isn't being developed for Mac?

All apple products are Overpriced. And only a small percentage use them, believing that they have the best products. Pure marketing and psychological idea that apple products are the best. They are not! So Very Welcomed the comments of the Oculus Rift founder.

It should be cross platform
What difference does that make? It is supported on the main gaming platform. A platform that in general in its current state is the only one that can support the VR. And if VR is successful it will become cross-platform, just as soon as other platforms are built to support VR.

Supported by only the top 2% of that platform at that. Not really the way to take over the world with huge sales numbers is it?

It should be cross platform only if it is truly to be the tech of the future. So, no, I guess it doesn't matter if anyone buys it or not.
Your guess is so wrong... Everything is about who is going to buy it.... That is the whole f***ing point my friend...
tech of future.... sigh... tech of future is what the most customers will buy. good morning.

Thanks for making my point again and doing such an eloquent job of it at that.

a little help. it is not developed for Macs because the number of potential customers is a big fat 0.
so much about being cross platform... where is your point here mate?

That the tech of the future is what the most people will buy. You even said so yourself...nm, go have another beer, it makes you smarter.

We are lucky to have such a talented technician in this forum. Please keep posting.

Well, I guess that makes you the only "VSP" (very special person) in this thread, with a legitimate complaint. An overarching question might be, "why run a Mac at all, if you're intent on running Windows 10"? Is it so you can have Tim Cook & Nadella tracking your every move...?:D

Jury is still out on that note.
If you define "talented" by strategically switching sides and maintaining a safe distance from answering on topic, then he's a genius.

OTOH, a lot of what's been posted in this thread thus far, which has been calculated to be "witty retorts" , is reminiscent of the childish, "jack of all comebacks", "me too, I know you are".
