Optiple gx520 system password

I have a dell optiplex gx520 which was given to me bt a friend. I get it home to hook it up but it boots straight to a system password. i cannot hit f2 or f12 because it goes straight to password. i have removed the battery for 2 weeks and reinstalled but no good. I have tried running xp but it wont boot from disk. Anyone have any ideas?

No wonder your friend gave it to you. Does he know the password?

Try not putting in a password and just hit "enter". I had a machine with XP PRO and it asked me for my system password. I was bummed because I thought that I would never get in. As a last resort I skipped entering the password and hit "enter" and it (luckily) let me in. The chances are not good, but try it.
