I will try running the system with one stick of memory at a time after the next crash. Thank you for the help.

Also, does the Windows Event Viewer help in situations such as these? It creates an entry every time the system crashes, and the descriptions are something lke this:

Error code 10000050, parameter1 be801815, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 be801815, parameter4 00000002.

The Microsoft Help and Support Center says that the Symbolic Name is: ER_KRNLCRASH_LOG.

I usually look at the Event Viewer after a major crash, but I don't know if it's showing anything useful.
Hi Atrice,

Do you any update of your problem? As your feedback will help us to resolve similar problem.

Currently, my system does not crash nearly as often as it did about 6-7 months ago. It tends to only crash after it has been powered down for an extended period of time (2-3 days for example). My main issue now is that the performance is somewhat sluggish at times. The CPU usage is very high usually. This always happens when I launch applications--for example, opening Microsoft Word causes the CPU usage to to hit 100% until the program is done loading. Also, the mouse cursor moves erratically sometimes. I believe I have hardware problems (I have already replaced the power source, so it's not that). Also I have replaced two blown capacitors on my motherboard.

Thanks for asking.

Hi Atrice,

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean you connect your PC to another power socket?

Sorry for not being more clear.

The crashes that I described to you long ago stopped for the most part. Every now and then (maybe 3-4 times a month) a random crash will occur.

What I meant about the power cord scenario is this: I shutdown the system and turned off the computer, and then disconnected the PSU's cord (ie the power cord, which runs from the PSU socket on the back of the computer case to the wall outlet) to bring it with me somewhere. Two days later I returned to the computer, plugged the power cord back in, started the computer up, and it took about 10 minutes of random crashes (such as the PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA, but others occurred as well in that 10 minutes) before the computer finally loaded the OS and remained stable.

I thought this had something to do with the PSU itself, so I replaced it with a quality aftermarket PSU. Then I thought it had something to do with some of the blown capacitors on my motherboard, and I have replaced two of them.

Another thing that I notice lately (since the last 3 months or so) is that I have performance issues. When I launch programs, the mouse cursor will start to jump around the screen when I move the mouse (as opposed to move normally). When I check Task Manager while starting an application, the CPU usage reading is usually near 90% (which someone else told me is normal for an Athlon XP+ processor). When the CPU usage reading is high, this causes the cursor to jump around the screen when the mouse is moved. I have also noticed that some video files (extensions .avi, .wmv, etc) have lag in the video (the audio plays fine while the video itself stops and starts every two seconds or so). A similar situation happens when I play games (such as Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which is not very graphics intensive, especially on the modest settings I play it with).

I should also add that several months ago after examining my bugchecks, you determined that my problem was probably hardware-related, indicating a faulty CPU or motherboard. I am still looking into the symptoms of faulty CPUs, but I have this in mind as a possible cause now (I didn't before because I read that bad CPUs are very uncommon).

I plan on adding more RAM to my computer (it currently has 512 MB of PC2100) soon to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for checking up on my situation.

I'm having the exact same issue Nancy is.. I've read through and tried most of what is listed here but as of yet have been unable to kick the problem. At one point I even went so far as to write zeros to my drives and load from blank. Once all necessary drivers were loaded the problem began again. Any other suggestions?

And when I'm using Mozilla Firefox:

Page Fault In Non-Paged Area

or

This STOP 0x00000050 appear only when I'm using Firefox, with ie, I don't have the problem, but I dislike ie :p

I have updated my BIOS, I've tested the RAM, I've changed my graphic card drivers...
