PC games crash

When I play pc games e.g. Crysis 3, dying light, farcry 4 a error appears 15min into the game and it says "the program has crashed" I tried updating my video card but still the same thing happens. It never came up before today.

My pc specs are:

Intel core i5-5200U
Nvidia Geforce 840M with 2gb dedicated ram
8gb ram

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Is the error being generated by the game or by Windows?

I'd do the easiest thing & system restore to a couple of days ago (pre-issue). Possible you had an update the system didn't like, or a bit of malware may have snuck in. As soon as the restore is done, go into Windows update settings & un-tick "give me recommended updates".
