will try. but need more info

Click Start->Run, enter; dxdiag.

When window pops up note progress bar in lower left corner. When its done click Save Information button to save a text file (.txt) to your Desktop.

Then attach it to your TechSpot post by clicking the paper clip icon. (Must used Advanced not Post Quick Reply in TechSpot to see that icon)

ok. couple of questions

1. What color is the jack you are plugging into?
2. What is the make/model of your computer.
3. Are you getting spearker sound? do you continue get speaker sound after headset plugged in?
3. When you open Control Panel do you see a control for one or both of:
- Sounds
- Realtek Audio

If you see Sounds why don't you open it. Click Audio tab to see:
- What is sound playback device?
- In bottom right, Use only default devices checked or unchecked?>

umm

theres 2 jacks i need to plug it into one is pink and the other islike a greeny color

i think the make is a intel if you mean the motherbord its a foxconn

when i open c panel i get sounds and aduio devices realtek HD sound effect manager

yes i am geting speaker sound i am playing music off youtube as well

1. Pink jack is for microphone. Lime is for your headsetsoundf
2. And to clarify:
- Are you saying the sound plays ok from headset and its only a microphone problem with the headset?
- Or you saying you hear sound from other speakers (e.g. internal) and both sound and microphone not working on headset
3. Some computers have front and rear jacks.. Would still help for more specifics. Read this and with the next couple minutes will update this post (so lookk back) on how to use a tool to give me better hardware info

Would also to get a report you could you provide
Try Everest Home Edition to get the specs.
Download from here and run it
- Click Reports->Report Wizard
- Get a Custom report, plain text, click Computer, motherboard and multimedia
- Attach hte output

yea, send me the output from everest as you're using some pretty old drivers (see below) (which get packaged with the Control Panel Realtek applet as well) AT LEAST I"M GUESSING SOMETHING MORE RECENT AVAILABLE THEN 2005 (will see)
