pictures appear very dark

My monitor works fine except for graphics. When I view pictures or photos on line they are extremely dark. All settings are set as bright as they can be. The monitor is over 3 years old. The display is an EV700 on standard PCI graphics adapter from Gateway.

Any ideas? I have updated all drivers and really do not know when this started.

you're probably going to have to experiment with your graphics card settings, giving extra attention to gamma and saturation, to name a few.
