Please help me, my computer wont get past loading screen

when i start my computer up it gets to the screen when the grey bar fills up, it should go to the windows loading screen but it stops almost straight away when it tries to load. I have tried safe mode which doesnt work. I have tried making it start up a different thing like the floppy drive 1st or something, this still doesnt work. Will someone please help me

what version of windows is this? and what is your hardware?

it is windows XP professional and I have. A greforce 3 and AMD athlon 1.4 Ghz processor with 64mb of RAM. do you need to know anything else
