Google News uses computer algorithms to identify top stories while Yahoo News favors old-fashioned human editors. But do Google's automated search results display a conservative bias?

That's rich: Gates tops Forbes list once again - Bill Gates may not have had much of a pay raise this year, but he did manage to add $2 billion to his fortune, bringing the total to $48 billion and keeping him on top of the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans.

Gamers Get a Look at PlayStation Portable - Gamers got their first chance to lay their hands on Sony Computer Entertainment's highly-anciticipated PlayStation Portable (PSP) at the Tokyo Game Show this week and initial reactions were mostly positive.

Internet junkies in chilling cold turkey experiment - Participants in the human experiment were deprived of the web for 14 days, and found themselves quickly succumbing to "withdrawal and feelings of loss, frustration and disconnectedness".

Half.com to continue at full speed - Online auction giant eBay won't be closing down its Half.com site next month after all.

Web news feed syncs up with ads - Moreover Technologies has introduced a free, ad-supported service that lets Web surfers set up a personalized collection of headlines from news outlets around the Web.

I wonder what would happen if some of members of this site were deprived of their PC for two weeks? I am getting agro just thinking about it....

Must admit it, too. It has happened more than once, either not having my PC available or any internet connection... it doesn't feel quite right.

Don't even contemplate THAT!

;)

I lost my cable internet for about five hours on thursday because someone cut the main fibre cable for my isp. By the fifth hour I was definately feeling frustrated because I had stuff I needed to do.

I lived for several months without an internet connection. It required me to change my habits, but aside from that was actually quite refreshing.

Actually, I think I'd rather be without net access than permanently going back to 56k or less... There just is something about having to wait for ages for a single page to load that annoys me something extreme...
