Problem with S3 ProvageDDR

windows XP sp 3
AMD Duron 3d now
Ram 256

Driver Version: 6.14.10.33
Release date: 8/13/2004 (means latest I guess so)

Problem is: video while playing, flickers, games wont run smooth. also cant run Project IGI.

The problem is with?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your problem is caused by you not having enough ram in your system.

I assume that by Windows xp sp3 you in fact mean sp2?

Windows XP is fairly memory hungry, add to that your onboard shared graphics, which will be 64mb I assume. This gives you 256mb less the 64mb shared graphics = 192mb of ram.

Get some more ram at least 512mb this should improve things quite a bit.

You might also want to consider upgrading to a separate graphics card. Don`t ask me to recommend a graphics card, as I don`t really play games lol. There are lots of guys on these forums that could give you good recommendations for a graphics upgrade.

yes it is sp2 and the AGP is 32 mb. and every thing is onboard so thats why I wasnt willing to replace it.
anyways, now I think there is no other way then replacing it. sigh*
