Problems windows xp pro

Hi I got this message on my screen

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate

I tried with with windows console to copy files, I get cannot copy file also access denied
dose anyone know how to solve this problem?

what was the last thing you installed or modified on your computer? did you recently encounter a malware or virus attack?

Thanks for your response , the last thing i installed were pictures, I have AVG ON MY LAPTOP!
