  1. The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced a new version of the Raspberry Pi Zero it originally launched in November 2015. Dubbed the Raspberry Pi Zero W, this new model will set you back twice as much as the first version although the addition of a wireless chip that delivers 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 – the same one found on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B – will no doubt make it an interesting proposition for some.

New wireless capabilities aside, the Pi Zero W is virtually identical to the original Pi Zero. It utilizes the same BCM2835 single-core processor clocked at 1GHz, has 512MB of RAM and a variety of connectors for all sorts of tinkering. It measures 2.6” x 1.2” x 0.2”.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation also has a new case that shares the same design language as the official case for the Raspberry Pi 3. The case features three interchangeable lids – a blank one, one with a cutout that lets you access the GPIOs and one with a mounting point for a camera. The case also includes a short camera adapter and a set of rubber feet to help it stay in place on your desk.

Today also marks the fifth anniversary of the Raspberry Pi as the very first model went on sale February 29, 2012 (a leap year).

The Raspberry Pi Zero W is available as of today priced at $10.
