Realtek Mic not working right

I've been using my Rosetta stone and it's been working fine but last week the mic is not responding or just not sensitive because before I spoke normal now I'm yelling is there a way to boost the mic sensitivity or is there better software better than Realtek you can recommend for me.

Have you looked at your control panel for sound controls? On my Dell, it's the IDT Audio Control Panel
