Reboot and select proper boot device

I left my PC plugged in for about 3 month with very minimal use (once a week tops), and then after coming back from Thanksgiving i turned it on and up pops a black screen with the message "Reboot and select proper boot device".

I do not know very much about PC maintenance, so does anyone have any recommendations in layman's terms so i might be able to save my desktop before i resort to taking it into a repair store.

Thanks

Do you have the Windows CD? If it's a black screen, you are most likely going to have to access the BIOS, change boot order to CD first, hard drive second, then boot from the setup on the CD.

Since you admittedly don't know much about PC maintenance, I suggest you get help for this, then learn about maintaining the system.

Depending on what type of connection you have, leaving the system on, unattended for months is not in the best interest of a healthy, clean system.
