RegEdit Cleaner popups killin me ><

Everytime I my pc is connected to the net, I constantly get these popups that tell me my registry is corrupt and whatnot and that I need to go to a said website, d/l the registry cleaner, and install it.

the picture I attached shows an example of the popup (different ones advertising different reg cleaner sites appear too), and my processes. ive tracked down the highlighted process, but cant delete it; it tells me access denied. I made sure I had "full control" on, but still no luck. adaware and norton cant find it either.

its a huge pain when im trying to play an online game etc, and it pops up in the center of the screen as a background window so I have to alt+tab to it to close it. I just wanna know how I can get rid of this thing before I go insane. any and all help is greatly appreciated :(

First, do the following.

Click start/run and type services.msc into the run box and press the enter key.

When the window appears, maximise it. Double click on the following services(if there) and select stop if they are running. Set the startup type to disabled. Click apply/ok for each service you disable.

Messenger<This has nothing to do with MSN messenger or any other I.M programme.

Close the services window.

Next, go and read this thread HERE and post a HJT log as an attachment into this thread.

Start in safe mode and look for the file cptmon.exe in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Delete empty recylce bin and reboot. This should clean it up

If you look at jacksona`s jpeg, you will see that the popup is caused by the Windows messenger service and that`s why I said to disable it. Also, in the task manager pic, there is no sign of cptmon.exe running. If you do a Google search for the Windows Messenger service, you will see that it allows almost anyone to deliver popups to your computer.

Therefore, the popup is not caused by cptmon.exe. I only requested a HJT log in order to check for anything out of the ordinary.
