Reverse tethering

Does anyone know why I can't download from my android while doing reverse tethering?

Is the Android device Rooted?
Is the Android device in USB Debug Mode?
Did you setup your PC to with the Android Tool so this process can work?

Which app are you using for reverse tethering?!?! I've been trying to get wifi connection from my work laptop to my Samsung s3 for weeks because my data plan is limited and it finished early this season, but I cannot seem to find any app that works on unrooted androids. I do NOT want to root it just yet. Any idea? Connectify.com is not an option because I think my boss will know I am obviously using the wifi and it is frowned upon. Not illegal, just frowned upon. Id appreciate ur help. Thank u in advance.

Tethering is connecting one device to another. In the context of mobile phones and tablet computers, tethering allows sharing the Internet connection of the phone or tablet with other devices such as laptops. Connection of the phone or tablet with other devices can be done over wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), over Bluetooth or by physical connection using a cable, for example through USB.

So the Tethering data flow is

cell-tower connection - - phone/tablet - - - wifi - - other devices

and a phone-wifi connection is

router -- wifi - - phone/tablet

and other devices connect using wifi without the necessity of the phone
- - so please help my feeble mind to grasp Reverse Tethering.
