Roccat Studios, the German manufacturer of gaming peripherals and accessories best known for its Roccat Kone and Kova gaming mice, has announced that it will be launching a new mid-size mouse offering at CeBIT next week. Dubbed Roccat Savu, the device features a 4000 DPI optical sensor and supports the company's unique Easy-Shift[+] technology, which allows users to assign dual functions to the mouse's buttons.

Roccat says the Savu will "dominate its class of optical gaming mice" with a 7-button button design (programmable with up to 12 functions using Easy-Shift[+]), customizable lighting system, and a mid-size form factor that supposedly "pampers the hands with an ergonomic right-hand thumb rest and soft-touch surface." Its real standout feature, however, is a new stats and achievements system called the Roccat Achievements Display, or R.A.D, that tracks and rewards a range of gaming feats.

"The driver-based software compiles user data, provides a range of statistics for analysis, and hands out trophies when exceptional milestones have been reached," Roccat says. Apparently it will track things such as mouse movement, button clicks, scroll steps and more. Gamers will be rewarded with trophies for achieving goals, and they can later share their accomplishments over social networks.

Although this won't affect or enhance your gameplay performance in any way, Roccat is hoping the new feature will attract gamers who like to rack up achievements, if only for bragging rights. There's no word on pricing or availability yet but the company is expected to share more details on March 6 at CeBIT 2012.
