Hello, I just got a screen saver I've been looking for for years,, it's the star trek after dark screen saver where spok and crew walk around your screen while the original tv sound bites play,, but it's a win 3.1 file on the original disks (2) and I would very much like to run it on my new machine with XP with SP2. does anyone have any clues on how to install it so it will work, or are there any apps out there I will need to down load so it can work.

no chance! you will have to mess around with the .ini and .inf files of the screensaver installation to even get close - even then I dont think that'll you'll pull it off.

damn 32-bit

you're only option is to try and create your own screen saver: http://www.download3000.com/download_8409.html

but you have to be pretty competent.....

good luck

Screen Saver works perfectly,, exept no sound

on a lark i downloaded some drivers from some sites,, like 4 different packs,, and ran 2 of the most promising self install utillities,, and valla the screen saver works great,, couple of little bugs, but nothing major,, execpt the program is so old it outputs all it's sound to the "internal PC speaker",, which hasn't existed in probably the last decade, so I am posting a thread to see if anybody can coach me as to how to get htis working. :slurp:

After I found the right sound adjustments it works perfectly..,, all exepct it won't load on start up, just have to double click the short cut I moved to the desk top,, great sound too. C.

Yea, I substituted the name of a midi driver I downloaded and installed, in the programs ini file at the "sound= line. fun program too. no "bitter dregs" for me, lol. C.
