Saints Row developer Volition shuts down after 30 years thanks to a $2 billion deal gone...

Since everyone's telling their favorites, I'll be the odd man out: My favorite, and only good game in the franchise IMO, was the first SR from 2006, which to this day remains a Xbox 360 exclusive. Really enjoyed it back in the day, and would love to see a remastered port for modern platforms (especially PC).

Didn't like the over-the-top nonsense path the franchise started taking with SR2 (and turned up to 11 in later iterations). Ofc didn't like the reboot trying to cater to zillennials and Gen Z either.

Go woke go broke
It's actually go broke, get woke, and ultimately croak as Razorfist puts it.

Volition had layoffs after Agents of Mayhem bombed. I haven't been able to find exact budget figures, but given it only made ~$19M, it was pretty high. They ended up laying off 30 people after that.

Their follow-up to that failure was their final failure. Many of these companies go woke trying to appeal to ESG investors to rescue them from their financial failures.
