In a nutshell: Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge later this week, even though most of its key tech specs have already leaked. The company fueled the hype further by confirming the device will feature Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for improved durability and crack resistance.

Samsung claims the Galaxy S25 Edge is the slimmest Galaxy S series device to date, thanks to Corning's latest flagship display material, which is both thin and strong. This new technology reportedly embeds crystals within the glass, enhancing durability and crack deflection while maintaining high optical transparency.

Samsung explained that Corning uses its ion exchange process to manufacture Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, strengthening the glass-ceramic material and boosting the durability of the display cover. The company claims the new technology improves damage resistance without increasing thickness or compromising the design.

Additional details about the upcoming device leaked recently. German tech blog WinFuture notes that the Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 3120×1440 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, paired with 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options.

The dual rear camera setup includes a 200MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and an 85-degree field of view, alongside a 12MP ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. Up front, a 12MP camera handles selfies and video calls.

The report adds that the device sports a 3,900mAh battery and has an IP68 rating, denoting resistance to dust and water. Connectivity options include USB-C, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7. It runs Android 15-based One UI 7 and includes all the Galaxy AI features on the existing Galaxy S25 series devices.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge on May 13, with reports suggesting an initial release in South Korea before it launches globally. The company didn't reveal pricing, but rumors suggest the 256GB model could cost $1,049, and the 512GB variant might be $1,149.
