screen goes black after logging into win

my brother messed with the resolution and mistakedly set the resolution to over 2000 x 1000 pixels on a 1024 x 760 or so monitor.. now when we try to log on everything boots right but after xp loads the monitor goes black and i cant get on. is there anyway to undo this setting and get everything back to normal.

there's probably an easier way, but try removing your cmos battery for a few minutes.

removing the cmos battery will do nothing to help, if at all. during bootup, press 'F8' (you have to time it right so you can just hit it repeatedly at the beginning of windows' startup). select safe mode, and you will be able to get into windows and make the desired changes.
