Screen keeps shutting off.

I have been working on a dell inspiron 1000 and it keeps shutting the screen off. It loads up into windows and i can use programs but the first time i move the screen it shuts down. I think it might be the ribbon cable but i'm not sure. If anyone else has any ideas let me know. Thanks
