Screen won't turn on

Well I have this laptop and it turns on the fan starts to spin(sometimes stops or it keeps running) And the screen is just totally black. The DVD Drive also makes this clicking sound, what's wrong with, the graphics card?

I tried those with no luck , I did open the computer last night, to find under the Thermal Cooling Assembly that the grayish goo shiz that covers the CPU has melted away, is that a problem?

Well in that above tutorial was a link on Howto re-thermal paste your CPU

Yea I did all that before, I thought it was only for switching CPU, I clicked on my model and stuff. Do you think that would fix it?

I'd say unlikely ( ) But it's worth a go (ie possibly)

I still don't understand what I need to put on the Assembly Thing, and now the fan stops after it turns on.

And the Laptop or Desktop is the same process

Clean (use isoprophyl alcohol ideally)
Apply thermal paste
Refit HeatSink

And remove all dust in the process
