Sims 2 installation problems

Recently i got a new pc, knowing that sims 2 would probably be alot smoother on this computer than on the other one i installed it at once. Every thing was installing properly untill the very end, once it has finished installing it asks if you would like to play it
and i pressed run. then an error message comes up saying that "sims 2 has encountered a problem it will now close" i tried a few more times to run the game but the same error message appeared. i uninstalled the game and tried to install it again, but this time it didnt even start installing only the same error message came up. thinking that it might just be my copy of sims i tried someone else's but the same thing happened!!! i love sims2!! i really want to play it!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you have the latest drivers for your video card? does your video card meet the requirements of the game? if yes and yes, try this no-cd crack , might be an issue with your cd, if that doesnt work update me
