Slowing computer

Recently my computer has been getting a bit slow and sluggish. At start up i have to wait about 2 minutes before anything opens, such as itunes of msn. Any suggestions? I'm about to run HJT

First, check for spyware. Then run the Disk Cleanup Utility. Then run Defrag.

Can it be due to spyware/adware? Yes, but all of the sections mentioned on that post play a significant part for a well-running system. Check it out.
