Sony VAIO VGN-AW335J/H cleaning question

I recently encountered a problem where my sound becomes very loud and crackly when the computer has been on for a bit. Read on another forum the problem is a build-up of dust near the fan and needs cleaning. Anyone ever heard of this?

I have not heard of that symptom. Install this so you can see your core temps, http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ If the temps are much above 80ºC when your are playing games or watching videos then it should be cleaned.

Idle temps should be closer to 50ºC to 60ºC, the lower the better.

Take the case off and blow all the dust out with a can of compressed air, put something like a cocktail stick in the fan to stop it spinning and blow all the dust out of the heatsink.
