What does this Soption sevice do? MS support & Google has nothing on it.

It starts automatically on bootup but needs an administrator log in to start. My main problems is that this some how locks up the machine.

DCOM also would not start without SOption started. I am also alittle confused as to what DCOM is?

Any ideas? I am running Win 2k

thanks

Found this via google search
soption and dcom are part of a program called scanrouter v2 lite which acts as a scanserver for ricoh based copier scanner products the program will not run unless the user profile it was loaded under is logged in . it also requies a password on the user account

Also, DCOM= Distributed Computing Object Model.
