I am running Windows XP
Internt Explorer 8
AVG 8.5
Adaware
Malwarebytes
Spybot Search and Destroy
SuperantiSpyware Free Edition
HijackThis
OTL
Security Check.

Everytime I do a search I keep getting doubleclicks and it appears that multiple windows are opening. I keep seeing the "ws.doubleclick" in the bottom of the screen with a long list of things that I do not understand at all. I am getting redirected but I don't know how or why? None of the programs I am running pick up anything except SuperantiSpyware. I keep getting the same cookie of "Ad.ware". I fix the problem only for it to return again. I have occassionally seen "atmd" as an issue as well.

Any help would be appreciated.
Tom

I have completed steps 1 through 4 of the preliminary checking stuff. I could not get "DDS" to work. It seems to lock up. GMER log is attached. Malwarebytes log is coming soon after the scan completes. (No problems there historically.)

Hi and welcome to TechSpot forums :).

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE
  • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
  • Physically disconnect from the internet.
  • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply.
  • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Run Combofix ONCE only!!

I tried to run combofix and it tried to run and then ....nothing. There was nothing in there like the userguide specified. It's like it started to run and then just stopped. No blue startup screen or anything. Should I delete it from my system, download it again and try running it again? I have been instructed not to run it again. Now what?

Who/what instructed you to not run it again?

Can you attempt to run it in safe mode please.

Let me know how you go.

If it still fails to run, delete it and download another copy.
