Struggling with Network Latency in Our Office – Any Fixes?

We’ve been facing serious network latency issues across our office, and it’s affecting productivity. Bandwidth usage seems normal, but we still experience slow loading times, VoIP lag, and occasional disconnects.

We’ve tried:

  • Upgrading our internet speed
  • Optimizing router settings & QoS
  • Checking for interference from other devices
  • Running diagnostics, but no major bottlenecks detected
Could this be a DNS issue, firewall misconfiguration, or an internal routing problem? Anyone else dealt with this?

Yes. I have dealt with this in the past. The only way to really troubleshoot is to test at each hop and on each physical port. Start at the router and work your way out to where the problem is. Possibly, a misconfigured VLAN causng a broadcast storm is a likely scenario for what you are describing. I use wireshark on each switchport when this happens to look for possible network loops and storms. It is a slow and tedious process.
