TechSpot's Friday Night Fragfest

True, I believe things should work 'just fine right out of the box' as not everything is bought/owned by a geek (sorry but I guess we are little geeky anyway) lol.

Once again I'll be there

I'll be there again as usual. Could use some people to introudce or mention new games that we can all play together.

I'm hoping I can be there for tomorrow as well, but not looking good so far as my internet is still playing up and disconnecting nonstop. Fingers crossed!!! :D

Depending on numbers we might kick off with TF2 > Though that decision is Matthews, not mine, but thats what usually happens.

You should grab hold of it when you get chance, its actually great fun, if a little overwhelming at times - the zombies just never end, and its guaranteed you won't get a break when you need one most in that game. :D

yeah i'll probably pick up L4D2 on the next sale. but i still dont have a headset. hopefully i'll have a headset on portal 2's launch.

The decision is always placed in the hands of everyone who's playing, really. I just try to gather a consensus and go with the flow. I have no problem kicking off with TF2 tonight :). See you all there.

Shame I didn't read this beforehand! :haha:

Though was only 15 mins late to the party, so wasn't too bad.

Nah, we play TF2/L4D2 on various servers. The server in the first post isn't necessarily where we'll be. It's best to join off a fellow TS member. We called it quits a little earlier than usual tonight as everyone was having connection issues with Steam.

Just to keep everyone on the same page, we'll be taking a break from TF2 and L4D2 over the coming weeks to play Section 8: Prejudice, the sequel to 2009's Section 8. It launched this week and it's only $15 through various digital distributors. :) See you all tomorrow.

*Edit*

Oh, and my GFWL ID is Z99749.

Unfortunately I haven't had much time to play anyting in many months now, in fact my desktop PC is just 'sitting' there for about 3 +/- months :(

Anyway, hopefully, in few weeks time I'll get some time to get back to playing stuff ;)

Why don't we go back to an old school game? I recently picked up Battlefield 2 Complete Collection for £7.50 brand new here in the UK :) come on, lets not lie, 64 player online on this beauty of a game is awesome!

I'm cool with that, but the main issue is finding enough people interested -- same deal with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. There just aren't enough people with the game who are willing to turn up on Fridays. If there were a ton of regular participants, we'd have the flexibility of playing different games as there would always been people to fill the slots, but that isn't the case.

So far, we have approximately a dozen regulars (people who turn up at least once a month or more, many of them every week). We've been sticking with L4D2, occasionally TF2 and recently added Section 8: Prejudice as a handful of us bought it. We really want to add more games, but considering the limited participation, you could say we're between a rock and a hard place.

By adding BC2 or BF2 we might gain a few interested participants, but many (most, in fact) of the existing regulars would be alienated. TF2 and L4D2 are currently the only titles that most of the TS Steam group currently own and are interested in playing. The immediate solution, of course, is to find another game everyone owns/wants to play, and I believe BF3 will offer that.

I'll have to speak with Julio, but I'd like to run a BF3 launch giveaway. Until then, I'm open to suggestions on promoting the Friday Night Fragfests. For a while, I ran a front page notice every Friday night with mild success. The ultimate goal is to create a group of 50+ gamers participating regularly. At that point, we'd have far less restrictions on the titles we could play.

I'd vote for Unreal Tournament 3 if Steam hadn't messed up the multiplayer version. That is one helluva fun game, but you just can't get more than 2-3 people on at one time without Steam falling apart.

Other than that, I can't think of any other games off the top of my head, but I have almost everything that's been mentioned. I'm up for whatever we can get together.

I've picked up L4D2 a month ago and my online experience was not very good. Maybe I need some more offline practice before I could join you guys.

Also, I've recently picked up COD Black Ops because I had fun on the free weekend on Steam, and it was on sale. Maybe we could add that to our list, too. Or not.

Maybe we should create a poll in this thread about what games you own that you wanna play.

Here are some multiplayer games that I have:
-Bioshock 2
-COD4: Modern Warfare
-COD: Black Ops
-Counter-Strike: Source
-Half-Life 1 Deathmatch: Source
-Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
-L4D2
-TF2

Yeah, playing L4D2 with public gamers tends to be a lousy experience. It's quite a bit more fun if you play with friends -- or at least people you know won't be jerks when you mess up. I tend to have a great time when I play with folks from TS.
