Tecra S1 LCD with lines across it

HI, was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem: on boot up the screen flashes red instead of black, with vertical lines (white thin ones) across the screen. When it finally boots with windows xp, there are horizontal lines across the screen with different shades of the colour. The cursor has a box of lines around it. I think it's a VGA card issue but am not sure; has anyone had similar problems? I have visited irisvista on the web, where there are some instructions on disassembly. I got to the connector to the LCD and repositioned it, and noticed that when I appllied pressure in this area I could get near normal display.... can anyone shed some light???

It sounds like there might be something wrong with the cable or cable connector. Can you try another cable?
