If my phone is at 50% or higher before I go to bed, I don't charge it (Samsung S7). It usually drops 3 to 5% over night. I can then charge it while at work or driving to work.

I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea to let your cell get that low.10-20% is more ideal.

Huh? Where did I say 50% was when I charged my phone? lol. Maybe you meant to reply to someone else?

I was saying if my phone is still over 50% when I go to bed at night, I won't charge it. It will still be over 45% then next morning. I only charge when it gets below 40%. I don't let it go below 30%. Most reports I've read have stated letting it get below 20% actually reduces the life faster.

I also take the phone out of its case whenever I charge due to the heat that builds up while it's charging.

It is tragic, but if it happened to thousands of others it would just be another statistic. Now who in their right minds sleeps with their phones, let alone a charging one, in their bed? Although most people sleep with their phones nearby them, I leave mine in another room altogether when at home.

I switch mine to aeroplane mode at night, and never leave it connected to the charger overnight.

There's NO current without a voltage. Say, for instance, you have a 120 V source, yet it is only capable of delivering 1 microamp. Connect that across a suitable resistance, say, 120 MOhm, and you will see 120 V across that resistor. However, when you start going lower in resistance, the voltage will drop in accordance with the total power in the circuit.

What makes 120 / 240 mains dangerous is the fact that they can deliver 10s of amps of current.

If the phone was still plugged in and no damage to the phone was done, that is not the case. Full main voltage would damage the phone.

Bedding, rugs, or clothing, all trap air to some extent, causing heat to be retained So when you come right down to it, wrapping a battery charger in a comforter could be construed by some people as "stupid". Not by me of course, since I'm very concerned with creating the illusion of political correctness. In other words, I'm not lying in an overt and boldfaced manner, I'm being, "diplomatic".

Now that this is known to be a safety hazard, moving forward, I suggest we take the same approach to a young woman's need for company, comfort, and security as we might with a new kitten or puppy. Which would be to throw a hot water bottle and a ticking (mechanical) alarm clock into the pen with her, and confiscate the damned phone overnight.

If so, you should take the time to feel sorrow for the people killed by people using a smart phone while driving. Also, take the time to feel outrage at property loss incurred by innocent people at the hands of such individuals..

But, gauging by the general demeanor of your posts to me thus far, I figure you'll just be whimpering about how bad the telecoms are screwing you on your phone bill, and they're making it so you're liable to have to hang up once in a while.

I figure in a few thousand years, evolution will cause people's ears will be shaped like hands with gooey secretions all over them. That way, you'll just be able to stick the damned phone to your head at birth, and be done with it.
