Tesla is building an AI-powered humanoid robot called Tesla Bot

"Invention is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." - Thomas Edison

Musk comes out with ideas than he simply dumps into the ether (see: "Hyperloop") and people are amazed.

He may have the financial resources to actually BUILD a prototype (maybe even sell a few), but there's nothing ground-breaking here either (eg: "tube" based transportation has been in sci-fi films for half a century. Adding MagLev was not an amazing leap of imagination.)

His rockets are no more advanced than what we sent to the moon in 1969 with the same "splashdown" method of crew return.

His car line is (presently) just four models. The "cybertruck" (which looks like it was designed by his 6 year old niece) has been delayed yet again. And where are those Tesla Semi's?

People are impressed WAY too easily by Musk/Tesla.

It's refreshing to have a TS member see Musky for what he really is.

As a side, he should have said "Invention is 1% inspiration and 99% taking what someone else has already done."
Steve Jobs, rest his soul, would have definitely agreed with that. Not to mention George Eastman and likely several others, too.
He must be dreaming of his very own sex bot.
There's no doubt about that. ;)
I’m against socialism, nor was that what I was proposing. You’ll need to read my post more fully. I was talking about a second currency in order to distribute something that’s truly free (not made by humans).
Expecting logical thinking from some people is, well, illogical. 🤣
No because they would cause fewer babies to eat. Besides, it's the trumpians that say the Bots should be deported because some parts are from

A FURIN COUNTRY!! 😱
Pretty soon, they will be claiming that the robots are murders and rapists. 🤡👺

People have also imagined reusable/landable rockets for ages. The difference with Musk is he is far more determined than most to find ways to make these things actually happen.

Not a bad point, actually. It's undeniable that Musk's accomplishments are light years ahead of Smartphones and Operating Systems.

If we are on track for Skynet the machines will eliminate us there is no need to create a matrix.
Matrix started out much like Skynet. As a last resort people blackened the sky in Matrix. And then the machines started using people as batteries instead of killing them.

Cherry 2000 getting a little closer...

Nope. The original Cherry was loyal to its owner, and doing only what the owner wanted it to do. This new Cherry will record everything with its red eyes, transfer the video and audio back to the factory, and possibly strangle the customer if ordered by someone, or if he didn't pay the robot-rent for that month.

Cherry was something you wanted to have in your house. This Bot is something you don't wanna have near you. The future went in the totally wrong direction.

Why did you feel the need to repeat that plot? The most morrronicc plot in the history of sci-fi? Made by two brothers, who turned into two sisters, who together couldn't write a proper article, let alone a script?

The original script was NOT written by the brothers/sisters who directed the movie. It was written by a smart person, whom they (probably) paid, and then massacred the important parts. In the original script, some humans were captured by the machines, connected to a big matrix, where inside of a simulation they studied how human brains work, so that machines could devise the best strategy of beating the entire human population.

Excellent idea, right? But the stupid brothers/sisters butchered his script (for unknown reason, except maybe too much narcotics) and turned it into "machines growing humans, even building a super-advanced simulation software for them, which burns tons of energy, and then feeding humans, which requires lots of energy and food (where did they grow it??) just to extract a bit of body warmth from their bodies".

I mean, even a 10-year old would see they are wasting energy, not gaining anything. Any machine advanced enough to build something as complex as the Matrix would be intelligent enough to not build it. Instead, it would just dig a few big holes and tap into almost unlimited geothermal energy source. Without the need for growing anything or creating an energy-intensive and compute-intensive simulation so that humans can enjoy.

They could have made a few fantastic movies, that can be watched by both 8-year olds and 50-year olds, but instead they've made the versions for 8-year olds only.

Why did you feel the need to repeat that plot?
Let me stop you right there. I wasn't talking to you. The one I was talking to knows why. By the way they were movies, a work of fiction. Talking about how stupid the producers may have been is irrelevant to the story line comparison.

Speaking universal basic income, I think it would work in a very specific scenario: as a second expiring currency that couldn’t be converted (easily) to exchange for things that have basically enough free supply (non-human productivity) to cover the entire populace’s needs. Ie. food that’s mass produced by robots so cheaply that the only reason to charge money for it is to make sure that demand does not irrationally exceed supply.

A currency rooted in actual human productivity would always be necessary though to ensure limited supply goods always create a market equilibrium with demand.

I have stated my theory and no wants to listen to it. Why can't we reward GOOD citizens? If you're not a burden in society like a POS career criminal there needs to be a tax incentive or some sort of payout for being a good citizen or something like food stamps for good people. I mean come on something! I look at my grocery shopping and it's bad! I'm one of those people that eats a lot but doesn't gain weight. Looking at all my old receipts it just blows my mind what we spend on food.

Don't worry, the ecological collapse fuelled by manufacturing and energy consumption of pointless products like this, the cyber truck and the flamethrower, will kill us long before this AI is capable of doing so.

So like the social credit system of China?

Because or entire system is the opposite of what it should be. Bad people, who were killing other people in wars or narco-cartels, get sent to Sweden, Germany, US, Canada, Australia, where they are given free apartments and big salaries for doing nothing (which they call "welfare"). They make like 10 children, which are then also paid by developed countries, say 500 euros per month per child in EU.

So, if they have 10 children they get paid 5000 euros per month, plus normal welfare, plus free apartment. But they don't waste those 5000 euros on children, of course. They send the children out, to beg, steal, extort, rape other children, etc.

On the other hand, good people are paying all those expenses. So, why do you think the governments would suddenly start rewarding good citizens? Nope, instead they'll bring more "doctors and engineers" from undeveloped countries, to make streets more dangerous. People, especially elderly, don't need COVID restrictions to be afraid to walk on the streets. Women in Sweden are already afraid exiting house after 6 PM, as if they are living in Bangladesh. Not much different from some US cities, right?

And you think they'll reward good people and punish those bad? LOL.
