The Best Routers

I use to test routers for 2 network companies. I still don't use those hardware they always seem to fail. Cisco Linksys I still have around they work without any issues. EA model works with my Android Smart Phone. Still like the old web admin GUI. I am not spending a lot for Network gear, which I did go out and buy enterprise business router manage one and matching manage business switch. The cost exceeded everything posted here so far. Mounted that into a mix rack system. Ok I had spend some major bucks. After 5 years the hardware has failed. I feel back on Cisco Router before dropping it off to Belkin. That one cost me like $199 back in 2012 N450/N450 5GHz 1.2GHz CPU might have 512 RAM really doesn't matter. What matters is that it's stable. I have to keep a cooling laptop fan on it along with DC3 modem I own so the internet stays smooth. I have decided to run everything WiFi instead of Ethernet Gig. I have that as a backup but WiFi I am getting true N300 on 2.4GHz and over that on 5 GHz. Smart phone, laptops and desktops all on WiFi. That's the way to go. My next major purchase is a Smart Thermostat and a Smart Robot to clean this house IRobot's are just way to expense to keep going for me. So buy a router that works for you.

IMO, you were doing just find until you jumped into the iOT stuff. The only iOT device I will ever buy is the one that will open the coffin lid for me (E.A.Poe; Premature Burial).

Well, I switched. Went from consumer routers (ASUS, D-Link, Linksys, etc) to Ubiquiti with a router (X), two AP's and a bridge system to go between house and shop. Getting 460Mbps through router & modem to ISP and 350Mbps through phone through AP to ISP. Laptop is faster. In the shop, through the bridge and router to ISP. Lots of options and features, including VLAN support, guest support, firewalls, and handle 100 users at a time. A year in I find it works better than anything I had before for the whole "campus". The ASUS routers worked well for the house alone, but dragging a wire was not an option to the shop.
