You likely know about Aaron Swartz, the cyber-genius who committed suicide a few years ago while he was being unjustly hounded by the law. A while back, I went to a talk by Justin Peters, the author of the book The Idealist: Aaron Swartz and the Rise of Free Culture on the Internet, which was very interesting indeed.

The frustrating part was that in the Q&A part, it became evident that much of the audience was a lot dumber than I was, and were bringing things to a standstill with things like demanding a detailed explanation of what Reddit is. But it was very interesting overall.

But now I finally got around to seeing the 2014 film The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz. It's a terrific documentary - but so sad. And I regret my own obliviousness at the time. He was living right here in New York City and even though I was aware of the movement against SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), I wasn't really aware of him, himself. It's so tragic to have that wonderful life harassed to death.
