The Last of Us Part 1 for PC crashes and burns out of the gate

I have zero interest in the game, but I almost bought it just to see how bad it really is...almost. Maybe that's the angle they were going for.

You'd be disappointed, game is pretty good, I'm enjoying it. Have no idea what everyone is complaining about. The initial wait for shader compile is extremely long, but other than that it's very nice. Good menus, many options, quality narrative and assets. Recommended if you like story telling games like Life is Strange or Detroit: become human, but are into zombie stuff as well

Good to know. I mainly play RTS games, though I like a good storyline.

Fwiw I've already said elsewhere days back that I'm quite simply not surprised at all. This release merely follows an increasing trend of devs not caring about optimisation or adequate testing pre-launch, and gamers as testers (though paying instead of paid)

Now, a similar game released the same week has done very much better due to what is clearly the opposite of such trends, and those devs deserve praise (RE4 remake/Capcom btw) Sure, there may be some minor/very temporary issues... there always are a few early on... but this is better.

Nuff said, tis what it is... and the only change (the hardest one for us) is to hit the slackers where it's noticeable (reviews, sales etc) while they're still outliers and before this becomes the standard.

I got Company of Heroes 3 and I have had nothing but problems with crashes in the Italian campaign on my 5800x3D / 6950 XT. Disappointing as all the previous games were some of my favorites since C&C and Sudden Strike. North Africa is fine. Then I picked up Great War: Western Front and it runs beautifully. So they can put out a good product if they really want to in 2023.

Not had a single issue with the game so far, runs between. 90-110 fps on ultra @1440p and not a single crash.. Trick is to wait for the shaders to install and then reboot the game.
Even if you wait for the shader compilation to finish and have a high end PC some textures don't load properly. Digital foundries has a side by side comparing ps5 to mid to ultra high end pc

Yup, CoH 3 is a mess (still) - though I've got some way thru the Italian Campaign, there are 'Skirmishes' which just don't finish (can't even pause or exit from them) which stops the whole game dead.
