The Sims 2: Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters...!

I have recently installed The Sims 2 on my computer and when I run the game, it shows me the following:

Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a direct X9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.

If someone can help figure out my problem, I would be most grateful.

What kind of video do you have? A add-in card or on-board video?

Usually that means your graphics solution, whatever it is, does not meet the minimum requirements for the game.

It used to work just fine.

Some one must of done something and now it gives me that message and I would really like to get the game working again.

1. Hello and welcome to Techspot, MilH3.

2. Your video card are probably Directx 7 and / or 8.. the Sims asked you to have the DirectX 9 card installed.

The DirectX 9 cards is...

ATI Radeon and All in Wonder Direct X Information

Nvidia Geforce - Series 6 and higher has only true DirectX 9 support.

Only Geforce 6 and newer has the true directX 9 support.
