The Witcher 4 trailer debuts: rendered on Nvidia RTX 5000-series GPU and Unreal Engine 5

That's even worse. I did notice hair works on the Father worse than the Witcher 3 on my 1080ti or whatever hardware I ran it at the time.
Here is Cyberpunk for reference running on 2 year old hardware.
Mmmmhhh... Actually that's nowhere near to the detail level shown in the cinematic but... To each his own! :)

Nothing in seen that would warrant next gen hardware to render.
Lol I found the 9 year old promo video
Gaimworks on and off.
Silvehand says hi!

Fun trailer that really captures the bleak feel of the Witcher universe.

I do wish we were not playing as Ciri as I feel like her story was more or less told through Witcher 3 (and the ending where she becomes a "Witcher" was more of an epilogue for her).

Would have liked to have gotten a "Commander Shepard" style character who is a written character with a history and narrative around them, but still customizable.

I'm sure the game will be a blast regardless even if it simply builds off of Witcher 3.

RED engine, as impressive it was, was the reason why Cyberpunk launched in the state it launched. People from the industry were not able to work on RED directly since most were trained on Unreal Engine. It add complexity to fixing bugs and issues. CDPR lost a big part of their valuation when it happened. The last thing they want is a repeat of this.

Also, rumors are saying this will be a PC game first and ported to console later. All good news to me.

The game will release in 3-4 years, so problems with UE5 will be fixed by then and CDPR is also using a customized UE5.
that's a false allegation, the reason it had issues at the start (I had none, I finished it day one) WAS the fact that it was released prematurely, they had not tested anything for consoles (who nobody cares) and for PC's, it had issues with SOME CONFIGS ( which is the main reason some people had issues and some did not).

Total fanning BS. The engine is still majorly flawed. Texture and asset pop-in right next to the camera all the time. It's a pig with lipstick.

Why? PC gaming has never been easier. Ultra settings often look worse than Medium too. Why? Because Ultra forces alot of garbage like Motion Blur, Bloom, DoF, too much fog and just strange crap in general that blurs visibility.

I max textures, AF to x16 and then adjust everything else. End-result is often alot of fps gained with a much cleaner image.
I have used what you did, "adjusted the settings" just to get playable framerate..
but, my system has been served me since 2018, so I think its time to upgrade, and it just so happens that I will be doing it when TW4 is released..

Wow, this is HUGE news for Witcher fans! 🎉 The idea of Ciri taking center stage as the protagonist feels like a natural evolution for the series. Her story has so much depth and potential, especially when it comes to exploring what it truly means to be a witcher. Also, the fact that Geralt will still have a presence is a comforting nod to the series' roots.

The detail about the trailer being rendered on an unannounced Nvidia GPU adds an extra layer of intrigue. If it's really the RTX 5090, that hints at some jaw-dropping visuals and technical innovations. Can't wait to see how CD Projekt Red leverages that power for the gritty, immersive world of The Witcher.

This teaser definitely raises the hype, but it also sets a high bar for the game itself. Let’s hope CDPR delivers another masterpiece! 💫 What did you think of the trailer?

Nope, CDPR had a PS4, a PS5, a Xbox 1, a XBOX X + a PC version to release at the same time. This factor with the use of Red engine which is proprietary constrained CDPR ability to deal with the quality of the game leading to numerous bugs since people unfamiliar with the engine couldn`t help them.

Project Management 101...

Good point, actually.

People looking at this thinking they must get a 5090 to play it, forgetting the earliest, and it's being (very) optimistic, this game will launch is likely 2yrs from now, right about the time the 60xx series is about to be released.

I wonder if they'll showcase a demo this CES running on a 5090 with new dlss features exclusive to Blackwell.
I am hoping that the 5090 will be a 4k 60 fps in unreal engine patch tracing experience without upscaling and frame gen ( based on all other titles so far and 4090 performance which is a 30 to 24 fps experience at 4k pt ) . That said the 6090 will probably be a 90 to 120 fps at 4k dlaa experience based on previous generational improvements, Unless Nvidia will move the goal post and add more proprietary brute force visual improvements. 😅

PS6 should be closed to release by the time the game comes out.
Have you seen the new hdmi 2.2 standard?

Hopefully PS6 comes with new standard.

Ah, so I will be playing W4 on RTX 6000 series or UDNA

Funny isnt it. Rendered on a 50X0 now, but will be played on probably a 6000 or 7000 series card. It sort of makes sense though - if this was pre-rendered.

I do think that consumer cards should be able to do 4K at 60FPS (I.e. there should be an offering for this), but the devs keep pushing new lighting, more textures, more stuff on screen, bigger worlds and so on - it all pushes down the framerates. So it's not as simple as new gens adding more frames, because new games take away those frames at the same rate.

Pretty much a non-article. It's not actual gameplay, it's a CGI video that would run just nicely on a RT4600 and a 2018 CPU. The rest is pretty much Nvidia marketing from their favourite techsite.

The graphics on most games are 'good enough' these days and I rarely notice anything too jarring. It really is diminishing returns now. I watch Digital Foundry reviews and comparison and can rarely see any difference in the images they use to compare High and Low quality / shadows etc. The only one I hate is pop-in and low quality polys/textures suddenly springing to a more detailed version but most the other stuff all looks good! Maybe I'm just too old to notice!
