Tim Cook points out cheaper replacement batteries equals fewer iPhone upgrades

rather then planned obsolescence,

Apple iPhones receive updates for at least five (5) years. Most Android phones receive no updates at all. Those that do receive updates generally only do so for two (2) years

But, when you couple those updates, with THROTTLING, (whoops, I'm sorry, improving the user experience with a failing battery) and then when customers walk into the store and tell the users
that well, your old phone can handle the NEW and "improved" software, and talks them into another
overpriced phone, eventually even iSheep will catch on.
$1200 dollar phones are insane. Apple should take a SMALLER profit, and sell more phones in the long run by DROPPING the price. But, with Jobs gone, the STOCKHOLDERS are the ones running the company, and if the price of the stock doesn't rise, they demand something be done about it.

Please do post evidence of the "lack of android updates". I have my Samsung S5 and S8 in front of me. The last update for the S5 was 1/18/2018. My Samsung S8 was last updated 12/14/2018. So much for your "facts".

Are you seriously and honestly trying to tell me that you received an Android Pie update from Samsung? Seriously? Honestly?

Pay no attention to him. He's obviously lying just to piss you off..

I don't know how to thank you. You've made cleaning out my cat's litter box a chore preferable to......well, never mind.

I'm using a 5 year old Lumia 635 running Windows 8.1 until it dies. I don't care if its not supported. I don't care if there are no updates. It does what I want. A cell phone is an appliance, just like a washing machine. It has taken over some of the jobs other appliances used to do like cameras and microphones, but at the end of the day its still an appliance. That means if your frig will run 10 years problem free so should your phone.

My friend, you are doing yourself an extreme disservice...

Over the last 8 years I have used a Windows Phone as my personal phone and have gone through several different Lumia phones (as well as several of my family members and co-workers) and with your Lumia 635 you are NOT receiving anything close to a full Windows Phone experience using that outdated phone. I know, because I use to own a Lumia 635.. (still do, but it is just sitting in a box somewhere). That phone (Your phone) is not even capable of using the current Windows OS properly.

My current Windows Phone is the HP x3 Elite. I have had it since the day it was released 2 years ago. Everywhere I go, I have people come up to me and ask me about it. The X3 is flawless and a joy to use. The phone itself (again two years old and still a tech wonder), has converted many of my friends away from Android & Apple based OS phones, because it just makes sense to them. These are people who approached me to inquire about my device.

BTW, a phone is NOTHING like an appliance, because a fridge, or stove doesn't run Software/OS that gets updated. Your appliances don't connect to your service provider or require updates.

Letting users switch out their batteries easily will cause people to keep their phones well past the payoff date (if you financed it) or above a 3+ year span depending on how heavy your use is.

Can't have that...
