Facepalm: Donald Trump and Elon Musk are having another public feud. The president has, once again, threatened to end the billions of dollars in subsidies Musk's companies receive from the government. He also suggested that Doge, which Musk led until recently, could investigate the CEO's firms. There was even a threat to deport South Africa-born Musk.

The Musk/Trump spat, which ignited last month, hasn't ended. The crux of the issue is Trump's Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Musk says would "bankrupt America" and threaten his dream of reaching Mars. It would also eliminate subsidies for electric vehicle purchases.

Things heated up in June when Trump threatened to cancel Musk's governmental subsidies and contracts. Musk soon backed down in that argument, deleting claims about Trump's appearance in the Epstein files. But it seems the world's richest person can't let it go.

Now that the tax and spending bill, which is expected to increase US national debt by $3.3 trillion, has passed the Senate, people are waiting to see if Musk lives up to his promise to found a new political party, the America party.

The last 24 hours have seen both men throwing around threats. Trump suggested that budget-cutting organization Doge, which Musk led before leaving the role, could look at the government subsidies Musk's companies receive. "Doge is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. He gets a lot of subsidies," Trump said.

The President wrote that Musk received more subsidies "than any human being in history, by far," adding: "No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE."

When asked if he would consider deporting Musk, who is a naturalized US citizen, Trump said he didn't know but would "take a look." Musk posted a reply to a video of the statement on X that read: "So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now."

As was the case last time the pair fought, Tesla shares have dipped following Trump's threat, down 5%.

One group throwing its support behind Musk is Chinese social media users. The hashtag #MuskWantsToBuildAnAmericaParty has gone viral on Weibo, where one user wrote, "Brother Musk, you've got over a billion people on our side backing you."

Musk is popular in China for several reasons. His business and technological achievements are celebrated widely; Tesla remains a recognizable and admired brand in the country, and the company has its largest factory by volume in Shanghai; and China is in love with Musk's mother, Maye Musk, who has achieved social media celebrity status in the Asian nation. Trump, by contrast, has few Chinese fans due to his trade war against the country.

America voted in 2024 out of hate and fear, and unfortunately, our poorest citizens, including children, are going to pay the price. Millions are going to lose healthcare, and now, school summer programs and lunch programs are under attack, while tax rates for big corporations and the one percent are going down. And that is just the beginning. People, this is what happens when you vote for a hate filled, vindictive bigot who is hellbent of punishing minorities and the poor for not electing him in 2020. This is what hate looks like.

America has always been full of hate and fear, the pimple just finally popped.

there's a reason social media was pushed so hard.

17 million people are losing their healthcare. They say you get to keep it if you work. Tell me again how the infirmed and over 80 years olds work? Can someone explain how that happens?

sadly it will be an even higher number that that. The reality is that number is too low. The republicans are creating red tape because they know the more hoops you jump through to get the benefits you are entitled to the more people will simply give up. It's not just millions of people losing healthcare, it's millions of people dying early from loss of medical coverage, it's millions of people declaring bankruptcy because of medical builds, it's millions of families whose lives will be destroyed since homes will be sold or foreclosed/marriages broken all due to medical debt. Family members won't be able to work or go to school to care for the sick due to medical debt. It's keeping the poor, poor while giving a tax break to the rich.

Elon Musk has a few billion dollars in debt from the Twitter acquisition, so the high inflation is actually working in his favor when it comes to repaying it. His involvement in the campaign to reduce public sector debt seems to be against his own interests (both in terms of stock shares value and debt). However, he true believes there's a need to reduce public sector debt.

I think the root of all evil lies in the lack of regulation in the medical sector. Healthcare should be treated by the government as a public common good (like water), which everyone should have easy access to when needed. But instead of funding it through taxes, they should regulate medical prices at the source. If they fund it through taxes, it's like allowing dirty fuel into the market and then demanding by law that users install filters. You lose because of entropy. But if you regulate it at the source, it's like cleaning the fuel before it enters the market, eliminating the need for filters altogether.

Its going to create a massive trickle down effect with dozens to maybe 100s of hospitals and nursing homes closing. 17 million people losing healthcare is only half the equation. the other half is people employed to provide that healthcare. Maybe the country will wake up already and get rid of this horrible stupid healthcare the only first world country that has for profit healthcare.

The irony is thick here. Trump attacking Musk for subsidies is like a chef yelling at a farmer for growing food. Both benefited from the same system — they just hate when the other guy keeps getting more of it.

A third party to give the duopoly party competition would be good for the country.

Less so the party itself and more that it would likely open the system to other “third” parties kept at bay by unfair election policies that exempt the duopoly parties as the only two true parties.

I see this site is going the way of WCCF. A clickbait article to get the trolls to come out of their holes and pontificate. Half the country voted in fear and hate? 80 year old people are getting thrown off Medicaid? (Hint: The aren't on Medicaid in the first place). Nothing like opinions without facts.

BTW, Trump didn't say he would deport Elon......it was an *****ic question from a reporter asking something that no one wanted to know. And Trump does what he does best, yank his chain by giving a non-answer to the question. Appears to have hooked a few other members of the "press" as well.

If fElon comes through with his "Threat" to start a third party, it won't last long. Too many now realize that most of what comes from the mind of the King of Mars is BS in its purest form.

We already know that one of the two extant parties would like to implement erection policies that exempt them as being the "one true party" and the only party anyone can vote for. Yet that's highly unlikely to happen.

Elon made the big mistake of buying twitter and supporting that low life POS. Tesla would be worth twice as much if he didn't buy twitter and supported that toxic sack of poop.
