hi guys,
i have 2 operating system on my hard drive, win 98 and xp.
i don't use win 98 and installed it by mistake long time ago and sort of forgot about it.
but because i want to free up some space and wondered if i can remove the win 98 os from my hard drive, and keep only xp.
i do have a partition but i don't think its installed seperately into each partition.
so i geuss it must be on the same hard drive, but i dont know where to remove it if i can.

please can anyone help

Hi,

Look through your windows folders - I think the XP installation system is pretty different from 98 so you should be able to identify the right folder and then delete that which would be taking up most of the SPACE for the installed OS.

Hope this helps!

Do you have a folder called Windows and one called Winnt on C:\?
If so, you should be able to safely delete the "Windows" folder...

Just to make sure you can check that the "Windows" folder's got a directory called "Command", in which you should find (among many other files) "edit.com", "FDISK.EXE" and "SCANDISK.EXE"...

But if you don't have 2 folders, do not delete the windows folder!
Instead, post a screen capture of C:\ and we'll see if we can't figure out which directory contains Windows 98...
