Ubisoft investors push for company sale as shares hit decade-low

It’s like they seem to forget they called Skull & Bones a “AAAA” game, first of its kind apparently.
Has anyone seen any gameplay? It’s a joke, it’s soo bad.

Star Wars Outlaws is also a joke, I watched someone just run around punching everything with a single hit because the Ai is so bad, the animation teams clearly never got to finish actually making the game, in-fact, it just looks and feels like an unfinished game, why they thought it would be hit is a mystery.

Ubisoft effectively killing games by not providing offline-play options when they take servers down hasn't done them any favours either. They're doing a great of job of doing nearly everything wrong and this is their reward from the paying public. No sympathy from here; that's reserved for the poor devs who see their efforts being wasted making content that's doomed to a bad reception simply because of the publisher they're attached to.
I do not immediately expect the worst from the people and companies.
But making a single player game tied to a server that will kill the game when it is brought down feels
like a plan existing for one reason, maximizing the profit.
A gamer cannot access his old game he still plays?
Well good, it means he will buy a new game that
will also die when the server is going down.

Yeah, yeah, another offended woke sjw. Thanks for reading my post and getting triggered.
Yeah yeah, you didn't read my post either explaining that I am not a partisan of DEI, however you just proved that you are the one triggered over all this and not me who can appreciate a game based upon factors not related to perceptions of political agenda.

All I care about are the following, which (Not being Woke), is not a factor...

Graphics,
Sound,
Gameplay,
Story,
Execution (Bugs, efficiency, performance, UI...)
Fun Factor

All this commentary about 'being woke' is nonsense.
Ubisoft's problems are to do with the cookie-cutter gameplay they have churned out for at least the last decade with very little real innovation and a gradual decline in quality. Eventually everybody gets bored and moves on.

Last Ubisoft game I really enjoyed was Far Cry 3. It had that Ubisoft formula but it hadn't quite gone stale yet and the setting and the amazing Vaas carried it.

When Assassin's Creed 1 came out it was a really interesting and innovative concept that sold in bucket-loads. You would think that would clue them in to the fact that innovation sells but they just saw the sales figures and decided they would make that same open-world games with different skins for the next couple of decades.

A game like Wukong running at 810p at 70 FPS with RT on a 4090 should have been destroyed in the critics for it's unoptimized mess...
I think every game, BMW notwithstanding, receives the same amount of flak for their lack of performance. And developers who deny, or ridicule the complainers, or happily accepting inputs and improve, will each get their appropriate rewards from the users.

Fun Factor
Graphics, sound, gameplay, execution should be AAA game class. Nothing exceptional, nothing groundbreaking, infact kind of copy and paste, out of the same game engine anyway.

Story, fun factor? Subjective indeed. But majority simply understand it's not really a story they are watching. living, playing, but rather sponsored messages being shoved down their throats. If you don't then probably it's good for you since noone is stopping you from enjoying a "niche" product, designed for very specific minorities.

Ubisoft hired a lot of incompetent people who don't even come from gaming to develop their games. The result is some shitty games. All they have to do is find people who yap about representation and inclusivity and fire them on the spot. You'll end up back at the top.
I think you are right.
One reason could be that any really good, creative, free thinking game dev/tech, wouldn't be able to unleash their talents at Ubish..e.

If they did and started getting near a playable version of a great original game - the kind of thing gamers like - but ubi clearly don't, they would be fired.

Ubisoft is struggling because Star Wars Outlaws didn’t do well. This has led to a delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Their sales are down, and some investors want the company sold. Ubisoft needs to make better games to meet players' high expectations and fix their reputation.
Honestly? I don’t think players/gamers have particularly high expectations, especially from Ubisoft.

When you are charging £120 for the full game (or £70 with bits stripped out) I think players/gamers expectation of the game being good, finished, and runs well isn’t that much of an ask.

For the money Ubisoft asks for, the game should be exceptional but it being Ubisoft, nobody expects exceptional from them.

Anyone using "woke" in the pejorative is an immediate disregard of their commentary.
So you CAN call me an INCEL or whatever, but I can't call you woke? =))
Let's see the results for Ubish!t this year.
I hope the activists get fired.

I did not call you an incel. I said your commentary would be disregarded if you used woke in the pejorative.
