Upgrade My PC Please! Episode 2: The Potato Race

Goodluck to the contestants this week, I'm really enjoying this series make me think of my system a few months ago. I had a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and a Nvidia 9800gt I upgraded my gpu to a 1050ti and paired with my q6600 I was still able to play most modern games, but now I've got my Ryzen 5 1600 and I'm extremely happy with it

Not particularly stoked about calling Z270 an upgrade path, with Coffee Lake launching in a month's time with 6c parts incompatible with Z270. The quadcores that work on Z270 won't be nearly as good value, and that z270 board is a waste of money imo. Would be better served with a cheaper mobo for the G4560 and a better graphics card instead. That is the ONE reason I'm not voting Oldy McOld. Otherwise he'd get my vote hands down.

If your HDD is dying, use what time you have left to back up anything you want backed up. One day you will go to boot it up, and it won't; data recovery at that point becomes a nightmare.

...Ask me how I know.
