Upgrade Options

Hi all

Please be patient;
I have an older computer a Gateway Performance 500MHz, P3, Graphics Card Voodoo 3000 - new HD 40GB.
Its fully RAM'd 768MB
What I was hoping to do was to Upgrade my machine, make it faster and better use with graphics packages - with hopefully not fortunes of money.
How would I go about a good UPGRADE.

What graphics are you going to be doing? upgrading your PC won't be a cheap excercise.

You going to have to replace most of your hardware, If you want a faster chip, you need a newer mobo, which would need minimum of a 300W PSU and the board won't support SD RAM which I'm sure you have ATM you would need to get DDR Ram.

I'll be working with Photoshop, but not massive images.
And maybe the odd game, but not mega 3D gaming.

Yes I have the SDRAM, and aware that if I have to change the Motherboard will need new memory.

What other upgrades would I need to consider, correct me if I'm wrong:

Graphics Card
Processor

That link is not too bad, tho, 256mb ram is not enuff for xp.
Plus you'll need to consider video card and PSU.
In all for your graphics it should do.

I think the PSU is better with this package.

But I was wondering would you know what are good Graphics Cards to use with the AMD as details above or any recomendations.
Medium use with games and more use with Graphics packages.
