VIA 8237 produces no sound

  1. Windows XP Pro (SP2)
    AMD Athlon 2800+ (2.10 GHz)
    ATI Raedon 8800 Pro
    512 MBs RAM
    ASUS A7V880 Motherboard

Today, I decided to install Windows XP to dual-boot along with my Ubuntu Linux distrobution. Sadly, after the installation of Windows, both the ability to connect to the internet, and sound were missing. The internet problem was a quick fix - loading ethernet controller drivers from a floppy onto the PC. But the sound problem has left me clueless. I installed the correct drivers, I think (located here). But I haven't yet heard a peep from my speakers. And the annoyingly funny thing is, the sound in Ubuntu works perfectly.

I truly hope someone here can help me.
    Thanks for your time.
    Regards, Leo.
