Virus problem (I think)

Hello, new member on this forum, came here to seek help.

Lately, I have not been able to open My music, My documents, My Computer, etc.

Every time i try to open one of these folders or files my Start menu, toolbar, all my icons completly dissapear for about 6 seconds, they then reappear. The File or folder i tried to open does not open. This is all followed by 1 or 2 messages from Norton antivirus saying im infected by something, it then says it deletes them, however the so-called 'deletion' from Norton antivirus doesn't seem to do anything, and i continue not able to open anything.

Please help soon, Rulgar.

Hi and welcome to Techspot :wave:

First, I'd like you to download the antivirus software AVG and either Kerio PF or Zonealarm Free from the link below (in the instructions link).

Then after you've downloaded them, disconnect from the internet and uninstall norton, including the whole lot of extras it puts in manually via Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs (you may need to use some norton cleaner utilities if necessary) then install AVG and your firewall. After doing so, reconnect the internet connection and download the latest updates to the programs.

Then follow the rest of the instructions and post a HiJackThis .log or .txt as an attachment to your next post.

In addition to the instructions given you by N3051M, you also need to post an AVG Antispyware log as well as a fresh HJT log.
